Moon Nazis? Yes, That’s The Story Of ‘Iron Sky’

Iron Sky is one of those movies with a premise so ridiculous it’s either going to be one of the funniest and wittiest movies of the year, or a disastrous train wreck. Seeing as the film’s been six years in the making and has the Berlin International Film Festival abuzz, we’re leaning more towards the former.

So what exactly is Iron Sky about? In the year 2018, humanity learns that Nazi’s have been secretly hiding out on the moon, and now plan to launch a full-scale invasion of the Earth. The American President (bearing a strange resemblance to Sarah Palin), seems more than happy to oblige, as history has shown that starting a war all but guarantees a President’s re-election. Yes, you read all that correctly–that is the movie’s actual plot.

Luckily, it doesn’t look like the filmmakers are taking the subject matter seriously at all, which is exactly how it should be. Iron Sky hits theaters April 4th, 2012.

The trailer establishes that the Nazis in exile have been watching Earth for 70 years, constructing a huge fleet of flying saucers. When the Nazis decide that they have bided their time long enough and launch a full scale assault against the Earth, they find that Earth is the easy prey they sought to conquer. The massive top notch visuals alone speak volumes about the uniqueness of the movie.
